Last month we had an interview with Godfrey Tumwesigye about THE ENDANGERED APES-MOUNTAIN GORILLAS. We are doing a follow-up with the story behind "the Journey of 500 miles to the Forgotten Kingdom.
The Forgotten Kingdom is home to the mountain gorillas situated in the western part of the country, about 540 miles from the airport. The mountain gorillas are the largest and strongest primates on earth. A silverback weighs around 300 to 500 pounds and stands from 4 to 6 ft. tall; however, they are also considered a gentle giant due to their calm demeanor; just avoid looking directly into their eyes. You do not want this giant to pound their chest, roar, and show their teeth in front of you. He will begin where the story begins at Entebbe International Airport that is described as the "Airport of the Equator." It is elevated some 3,782 feet above sea level and it is part of Africa's biggest fresh water lake. The airport at Entebbe was commissioned in 1951 with the splendor and presence of the Queen of England.
